emthani is a student-first exam study platform for contributor-generated study materials, from students and their teachers, not exam cheating or content piracy.
We believe students learn best when peers and teachers share study materials openly, but this must be done:
- Legally (respecting copyrights)
- Ethically (not facilitating cheating)
- Responsibly (following university rules)
- Without compromising academic integrity
Important: emthani is designed to support learning, not replace teaching. All content must be uploaded by the person who authored it, student or teacher, and remain supplementary to official course materials.
You may upload notes that are:
- Student-generated notes: Notes you personally created while studying
- Personal summaries: Your own understanding and explanation of course topics
- Derivative explanations: Notes written in your own words based on lectures, textbooks, or other sources
- Exam preparation material: Study guides, formula sheets, or concept maps you created
Good Example: "My handwritten notes from Data Structures lectures, rewritten and organized with my own examples and explanations."
You may NOT upload:
- Exam leaks: Current exam questions, leaked exam content, or any materials intended to compromise exam integrity
- Official course files: Lecture slides, handouts, course packs, or any materials officially provided by professors or universities
- Assessment materials: Past exam questions, model answers, grading rubrics, assignment solutions, or any content tied to evaluation
- Copyrighted textbooks: Scanned pages, chapters, or full textbooks
- Leaked or confidential content: Any material marked as confidential or obtained improperly
- Direct copies: Verbatim copying of someone else's work (including other students' notes)
Bad Example: "Professor's PowerPoint slides from CS101" or "Last year's final exam with answers"
Your notes must be derivative work, meaning:
- Written in your own words: Not copy-pasted from slides, textbooks, or other sources
- Based on your learning: Your interpretation and understanding of the material
- Adds your perspective: Your insights, examples, or ways of explaining concepts
Think of it this way: If you attended the lecture or read the textbook, then wrote notes to help yourself understand, those notes are yours. If you just copied someone else's materials, they're not.
emthani reserves the right to:
- Remove any content at any time without prior notice
- Suspend or permanently ban accounts for repeated violations
- Withhold payouts for flagged content
- Share information with universities if legally required
If you believe content violates this policy, your rights, or applicable laws:

We respond to all reports within 48-72 hours and comply with DMCA and applicable laws.
emthani is not a cheating platform. We do not facilitate:
- Exam cheating or sharing current exam content
- Plagiarism or academic misconduct
- Violation of university academic integrity policies
Our goal: Help students learn from each other's study approaches, not bypass learning.
Think of emthani like a study group where students share their personal notes. Legal, helpful, but not a substitute for doing your own work.
Before uploading, ask yourself:
- Did I create this content myself?
- Is this written in my own words?
- Does this violate any copyright?
- Would my university allow me to share this?
- Am I comfortable putting my name on this?
If you answered "no" to any of these, do not upload the content.
Leaked content and account consequences
Redistributing notes outside emthani (by screenshot, download, print, or re-upload) violates these terms. Watermarks identify the source account of leaked material.
- First confirmed incident: written warning and credit reset.
- Second confirmed incident: permanent account suspension.
- Uploading another creator's work as your own results in immediate suspension.
